Omid Bürgin

 

Composition / Filmscoring

Omid has won international reputation writing electronic, chamber and orchestral music blending repertoires and techniques of many cultures. He has written several compositions for the Kronos Quartet, including pieces for Gamelan, Chinese instruments and Shaman Korean textures. He has performed at the Haus der Kulturen der Welt in Berlin, the LA Performing Arts Center, has won scholarships, mentions, prices and invitations through UCLA Henry Mancini Award, the Electronic Arts Research Institute (EAR) and the Freunde der Guten Musik, Berlin.

In his studio he creates filmscores, jingles and other creative applications for any budget, being able to take advantage of his professional Recording Studios and the vast pool of talented musician living in Brazil. All compositions are professionally recorded, mixed and mastered.

This piece was commissioned by the Kronos Quartet in 1997.The music is based on a shamanistic tradition from Korea, where the priestess dances in order to influence and entertain the Gods.
